A rich brown sauce with an accent of tomato. Great served over pork or accompanied with pasta.
|2 oz||Olive oil|
|6 oz||Julienne onions|
|6 oz||Sliced mushrooms|
|1 Tbsp||Minced garlic|
|7 oz||Julienne roasted red peppers|
|6 oz||Canned diced tomatoes|
|1 gal||Hot water (180°-190°F)|
|1 bag||Foothill Farms® Brown Gravy Instant Mix (either #074T or #G405)|
In a large pot, saute onions and mushrooms in olive oil until onions are translucent and mushrooms are soft. Then add in garlic.
Add peppers and tomatoes to the pot and heat for approximately 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat.
In a separate mixing bowl, pour in hot water. Pour Gravy Mix contents (14.1 oz) into water while vigorously stirring with a wire whisk. Continue stirring until mix is completely dissolved and gravy is smooth. Cover and let stand 3-5 minutes then re-stir.
Add gravy to pot. Mix to combined. Reserve warm.
