Traditional Tomato Sauce, ground beef and cheese are stuffed in pastry dough for a treat on the go.
|1 bag||Foothill Farms Traditional Tomato Sauce Mix (#089T)|
|1 1/2 gal||Hot water (180°-190°F)|
|1 cup||Diced onions|
|3 cloves||Garlic, minced|
|1 cup||Canned diced tomatoes, undrained|
|1/2 cup||Chopped fresh basil|
|3 2/15 lb||Ground beef, fully cooked|
|7 1/2 cups||Shredded Mozzarella cheese|
|30 each||Pastry, 7: Flaky Dough Round, Rich's #11549|
|Grated Parmesan Cheese|
Pour water into mixing bowl. Pour Traditional Tomato Sauce Mix (16oz) into water while vigorously stirring with a wire whisk. Continue stirring until mix is completely dissolved. Set aside.
In a pan, sauté onions and garlic until they become soft and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
Add sauce, tomato and basil. Mix in beef.
Place 4.5 oz (#8 scoop) of mixture and 1/4 c cheese to middle of pastry. Fold over in half and crimp edges. Brush with water and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese.
Bake at 325F convection oven for 20 minutes, until golden brown.
