Can Dole soft serve be consumed by people who are allergic to dairy?

Dole soft serve contains a very small amount of sodium caseinate which is a protein derived from milk.  This ingredient is so highly processed that government officials do not consider it to be a dairy substance.  As a result, Precision Foods is legally able to label Dole soft serve as “nondairy”.  Nondairy coffee creamers also contain sodium caseinate.

Due to the sensitive nature of some dairy allergies, Precision Foods encourages customers to use their own discretion when consuming Dole soft serve.  As sodium caseinate is not a source of lactose, Dole soft serve is lactose free.

Do I need a soft serve machine to use Dole soft serve?

Yes, Dole soft serve does require a soft serve machine.  Any brand of equipment or model should work fine although Dole soft serve tends to require a slightly higher temperature setting because of its low fat content.

How does Dole fruit flavored soft serve compare to frozen yogurt?

From a flavor perspective, Dole soft serve does not have the tangy flavor of most frozen yogurts.  Rather its high citric acid content generates a highly intense fruit flavor that seems to burst in your mouth.  There is really no other soft serve or frozen yogurt product that tastes quite like it.

With just a ½ gram of fat per four ounce serving, Dole fruit flavored soft serve and frozen yogurt are similar.  But unlike frozen yogurt, Dole fruit flavored soft serve is both cholesterol and lactose free.

By its very nature, frozen yogurt contains a significant amount of bacteria.  Until you mix Dole dry mix soft serve, these products are bacteria free.

Frozen yogurt requires either refrigerated or frozen storage while Dole soft serve is shelf-stable.  Dole soft serve also has a much longer shelf-life than frozen yogurt.

How often do I need to clean my soft serve machine if I’m using Dole soft serve?

Cleaning schedules for soft serve equipment are not determined by the mix being used.  Even though Dole soft serve is lactose free, operators should still follow their local health department guidelines when it comes to equipment cleaning expectations.

Is it necessary to use a Dole mixing bucket when preparing the dry mix product? How do I obtain a Dole mixing bucket?

It is important to use a Dole mixing bucket when preparing the mix as it ensures the right proportions of water and mix.  Too much or too little water will dramatically affect both the flavor and creaminess of Dole soft serve. Complimentary Dole mixing buckets, lids, wire whisks and laminated mixing directions are provided as a service to those operators using the product.  Click here to request.

What type of operator generally offers Dole soft serve?

Dole soft serve is used by a wide variety of operators.  Those with “captive” patrons, such as colleges and universities and corporate feeders, like that they can conveniently add variety to their soft serve offerings since vanilla and chocolate can get boring offered day after day.  The fact that Dole soft serve is lactose free is also a plus.  This is an important benefit if your student or employee population features a diverse ethnic make-up as incidence of lactose intolerance is higher among non-whites.

Recreational venues enjoy offering Dole soft serve because the product’s quality and highly recognized brand name justifies a higher price point and great margin.  Its refreshing flavor is perfectly suited for outside venues.

Ice cream retailers often look to Dole soft serve to help differentiate them from their competition.  Being unique, Dole soft serve is not offered by every ice cream shop in town.  It can truly help define your store and generate customer loyalty.

The convenience associated with storing and using Dole soft serve appeals to every operator.  With cooler and freezer space at a premium, Dole soft serve’s shelf-stability and long shelf life are certainly appreciated.
