BRC Audit

Food Quality and Safety are Paramount

BRC logoAll three PFI manufacturing facilities are audited annually based on the technical standards issued by the British Retail Consortium (BRC). Each has the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, Level A, Certification.

The BRC Global Standards, which are used worldwide, specify requirements to be met by an organization to enable the production, packaging, storage and distribution of safe food and consumer products.

Regarded as the benchmark for best practice in the food industry, the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety was the first standard to be approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), as part of their process for mutual recognition of food safety standards, and continues to be the most widely used.

This certification validates our compliance with the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Best Industry Standards. PFI customers can be confident that

  • An effective HACCP program is in place
  • A supplier approval process is established which ensures raw materials are procurred from suppliers compliant with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Analytical, organoleptic and physical testing is conducted on incoming ingredients and batch samples.  Testing may include salt analysis, Brix, pH, viscosity, cook-up analysis, etc.
  • Machine maintenance is preventative and performed by skilled personnel
  • Employees are adequately and routinely trained in the areas of food safety and security
  • Internal audits are conducted to identify continuous improvement of facility and processes
  • Effective traceability processes exist for ingredients, packaging materials and finished goods
